The Jouanne ({{IPA|fr|ʒwan}}) is a {{convert|58.5|km|mi|abbr=on}} long river in western France located in the department of Mayenne, region of Pays de la Loire. It is a tributary of the river Mayenne on the left side, and so is a sub-tributary of the Loire by Mayenne and Maine.{{Sandre|M34-0300 |la Jouanne}}

History

The name of Jouanne probably goes back to the Gaulish form div-onna (divine-water). The evolution of Divonne is exactly the same as that of divrnus which engendered day in modern French.{{cite web|author=INPN |url=https://inpn.mnhn.fr/zone/znieff/520320008 |title=COTEAUX DE LA JOUANNE A L'AVAL DU MOULIN DE POCHARD |language=French |publisher=inpn.mnhn.fr|date= |accessdate=2019-02-07}}
