Mayors for the Liberec Region ({{langx|cs|Starostové pro Liberecký kraj}}, SLK) is a regionalist party in the Czech Republic, established ahead of the 2008 regional elections.{{cite web|title=Kdo jsou|url=http://www.starostoveprolibereckykraj.cz/kdo-jsou-slk.html|website=Starostové pro Liberecký kraj|accessdate=8 October 2016|language=cs}} The party won the 2012 regional election in Liberec and its leader Martin Půta became governor of the Liberec Region, the first time a governor had come from outside one of the major parties.{{cite news|title=PODÍVEJTE SE: Novým hejtmanem je Martin Půta|url=http://liberecky.denik.cz/zpravy_region/novym-hejtmanem-je-martin-puta-20121127.html|newspaper=Liberecký deník|accessdate=8 October 2016|date=27 November 2012}} SLK cooperate with the Mayors and Independents party.{{cite web|title=Starostové pro Liberecký kraj nepůjdou do voleb v koalici|url=http://www.libereckadrbna.cz/zpravy/politika/4674-starostove-pro-liberecky-kraj-nepujdou-do-voleb-v-koalici.html|website=Liberecká Drbna|accessdate=9 October 2016}}

Ideology

The party focuses on regional issues. It supports economical responsibility, transparency and flood repairs. SLK were critical of the coalition between ČSSD and SOS that governed the region in 2008-2012. SLK criticised the coalition for corruption and slow repairs to roads damaged by floods.{{cite web|title=Krajští radní spí v Liberci ve drahých služebních bytech, kárá je opozice|url=http://liberec.idnes.cz/opozice-kritizuje-sluzebni-byty-libereckeho-kraje-f8b-/liberec-zpravy.aspx?c=A120518_1779897_liberec-zpravy_oks|website=iDNES.cz|accessdate=8 October 2016|date=18 May 2012}}{{cite web|title=Tato silnice patří kraji, označili starostové cedulemi "tankodromy"|url=http://zpravy.idnes.cz/starostove-z-libereckeho-kraje-oznacily-rozbite-silnice-cedulemi-1cm-/domaci.aspx?c=A120824_162745_liberec-zpravy_alh|website=iDNES.cz|accessdate=8 October 2016|date=24 August 2012}}

History

SLK was established in 2008 and participated in regional elections that year, receiving just under 14% and forming part of the opposition in the regional assembly. SLK participated in the 2010 legislative election, with its members nominated by TOP 09. SLK member Jan Farský was elected as a member of parliament.{{cite web|title=Šok pro starostu.
