History

The PAC was formed on October 16, 2024, the day after it would be legally required to disclose its donors before the election. The PAC aimed to aid Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign by running advertisements which compared Trump and late Supreme Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's political views on the legality of abortion in the United States, attempting to portray them as being similar.

The PAC was financed by one or more secret donors,{{Cite news |last1=Goldmacher |first1=Shane |last2=Schleifer |first2=Theodore |last3=Haberman |first3=Maggie |last4=Kantor |first4=Jodi |date=2024-10-24 |title=New 'RBG PAC' Spending $19 Million From Secret Donors to Aid Trump on Abortion |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/25/us/politics/trump-ruth-bader-ginsburg-abortion-ad.html |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20241124185728/https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/25/us/politics/trump-ruth-bader-ginsburg-abortion-ad.html |archive-date=2024-11-24 |access-date=2024-12-06 |work=The New York Times}} which were later revealed to be just businessman Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual in the world.{{cite web |last1=Matthews |first1=Alex Leeds |last2=Wright |first2=David |last3=Schouten |first3=Fredreka |title=Musk spent more than a quarter-billion dollars to elect Trump, including funding a mysterious super PAC, new filings show |url=https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/05/politics/elon-musk-trump-campaign-finance-filings/index.html |website=cnn.com |date=6 December 2024 |publisher=CNN |access-date=24 January 2025}}{{Cite news |last1=Bowman |first1=Bridget |last2=Kamisar |first2=Ben |last3=Bland |first3=Scott |date=2024-12-06 |title=Elon Musk spent a quarter-billion dollars electing Trump, including financing mysterious 'RBG PAC' |url=https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/elon-musk-spent-quarter-billion-dollars-electing-trump-financing-myste-rcna182922 |url-status=live |archive-url=https://archive.today/20241206025222/https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/elon-musk-spent-quarter-billion-dollars-electing-trump-financing-myste-rcna182922 |archive-date=2024-12-06 |access-date=2024-12-06 |work=NBC News}} The donation came in a single lump sum from the “Elon Musk Revocable Trust” and was timed so that information about it wouldn't have to be released until after the election.{{cite web |last1=Kinard |first1=Meg |title=Elon Musk gave $20 million to a super PAC comparing Trump to Ginsburg on abortion |url=https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/elon-musk-gave-20-million-to-a-super-pac-comparing-trump-to-ginsburg-on-abortion |website=pbs.org |date=6 December 2024 |publisher=PBS |access-date=24 January 2025}} In total, the committee spent $20,476,000 on Trump's electoral campaign during the 2024 United States presidential election, which he eventually won.{{Cite web |title=RBG PAC Outside Spending |url=https://www.opensecrets.org/outside-spending/detail/2024?cmte=C00891291 |url-status=live |archive-url=https://ghostarchive.org/archive/20241206131251/https://www.opensecrets.org/outside-spending/detail/2024?cmte=C00891291 |archive-date=2024-12-06 |access-date=2024-12-06 |website=OpenSecrets }}{{Cite news |last=Piper |first=Jessica |date=2024-05-12 |title=Elon Musk was behind mysterious pro-Trump super PAC that invoked Ruth Bader Ginsburg |url=https://www.politico.com/elon-musk-trump-donations-super-pac |url-status=live |archive-url=https://ghostarchive.org/archive/20241206121237/https://www.politico.com/elon-musk-trump-donations-super-pac |archive-date=2024-12-06 |access-date=2024-12-06 |work=Politico }}

Responses
