:I would appreciate another user taking a look at these. As a member of WP:SHIPS (editing primarily commercial shipping articles), I may be too involved with the subject. I do not work in the cruise industry, but I have a personal interest in the subject.

:To me, this user appears to be adding links to a community forum of personal reviews and photos of multiple cruise ships (some press releases too, but where possible those should be linked directly from the cruise line's website). The user is also doing some useful cleanup to several articles at the same time - so it's a mix of activity.

I would only ask that the article Phil Hall (US writer) remain. I did not create that article, I only contributed to it -- and you will see that I have not been there in a while. Mr. Hall is, in his own terms, very well known as the author of several books and as a journalist, and his notability is not in question. RESPONSE. The above posting was brought to my attention, and I strongly dispute it. The URL in question belongs to the online edition of Secondary Marketing Executive, a monthly trade magazine for the mortgage banking industry. The magazine has been published for more than 25 years. I would invite all parties reading this response to go to the URL in question to determine its legitimacy as a source of news relating to mortgage banking.

Regarding the spam history of the URL in question: I ran a search at Eagle’s Spam Report (http://toolserver.org/~eagle/spamsearch/sme-online.com) and it produced no evidence that sme-online.com is a spam account. I invite all parties reading this to do the same.

Regarding my personal involvement on this site: I made relatively few contributions to Wikipedia over the past year and a half. My interest in the site is very limited and my contributions have been sporadic. You will note, however, that none of my previous postings have been identified as spam.

I notice that sometimes people who are not active on IRC need some link reports. Admins here can now add {{tlx|LinkSummary|domain}} to User:COIBot/Poke, when COIBot picks up the edit to that page (and it should), it will put the domains into its reporting queue (high priority, which is, only behind waiting XWiki reports) and create a report on the link(s). The first report should be saved within about 5 minutes, if it takes longer than 15 minutes there is probably something wrong, and it may be useful to add the template with the link again (it reads the added part of the diffs (the right column)), or poke me or another person who is active on IRC personally. : Heh, :-). No, I did a cleanup of COI records. I removed all records from the database which were due to users adding automonitored links (as they do not necesserily have a COI, technically). It saves a report when there are more than 5 COI records (or it gets added cross-wiki too much), otherwise it only lists that a site has been added in Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam/LinkReports. If one needs a report on full usage, it needs to be poked (in User:COIBot/Poke or on IRC). Bot is coping just fine at the moment, not a big backlog of links which need saving. Comparison of issue tracking systems is one of those articles that attract plenty of inappropriate external links. Recently, a whole bunch of links (for issue tracking software and for companies that manufacture said software) were removed. Two of the links, for one piece of software and the associated company, have been repeatedly restored, apparently by representatives for the company (Metadot Corp). Just come across this mass of external links. They link with a template including a link to the on WP page to articles stuffed full of adverts with (on the ones I have seen) pretty thin content. The on wiki article just about gets notability but I don't think we should have all these article links. Anyone think they are great? A return for this website! I cleared a big collection of dubious refs citing this place a few weeks back. Most were replaced with better quality references in the few places that references were actually needed but many were simply link dumps and simply deleted. This website is the original Route 66 website, I find it strange to see it listed as spam, perhaps various people used it as source material and due to all the edits it triggered some sensitivities, but the site has a community supporting it (look in their forum e.g.) and is the only source of turn-by-turn descriptions of Route 66.

As a result of those additions, the article has been semi-protected multiple times. Once even over a number of weeks. Yet, the spamming has always continued after the protection had expired, and occasionally even during its protection period by possible single-purpose accounts. The links have been getting posted to a half-dozen or more articles in an aparent attempt to promote/advertise the website involved. Given the username doing this is the same name shown as the host of the Art of the Drink video podcast, I believe that a COI issue is also likely.

On a secondary issue, it appears that the Art of the Drink article is basically a web-directory at this stage ... I was considering cleaning it up, but it's so convoluted that I was unsure where to start - any suggestions/pointers? Links to this site have been added to various articles as references by {{user|Supplements}}. To me, the links seem to contain useful information, but that info is copied from other sources ([http://www.keysupplements.com/articles/Calcium-Bones.htm for example], from a press release) and framed within product catalog links and other obviously promotional stuff. The user Supplements also acknowledges on his userpage being the owner of the company, so there are conflict of interest issues too. I believe the user is being helpful to Wikipedia with plenty of constructive edits, and he is being transparent about his connection to the site he is adding external links to. But it seems that his contributions come with the promotion of self-interests as well.
