This is a tracking category for unnecessary taxonomy templates. These can now be tagged for speedy deletion using {{tl|db-t5}}.
The category is used as a holding location for taxonomy templates whose deletion will be uncontroversial, because the template is both unused and unnecessary, e.g. because it is incorrectly set up, or relates to a taxon no longer used.
- When a taxonomy template is both unused and unnecessary, replace the entire contents of the template with
Category:Unnecessary taxonomy templates - When there are a few dozen templates here, notify an editor active in the Templates for Discussion process, who will then delete them per this deletion discussion.
