If we have a category called American proslavery activists, i think there should be a

see also:

  • Category:Confederate States Army personnel
  • Category:Confederate States Navy officers

Not sure what our definition of activist is, and maybe enlisted men get the benefit of the doubt, but the Confederacy seceded to maintain slavery (which why they needed states' rights, because William Lloyd Garrison was being very mean and very unfair etc. promoting full abolition at the state and national level).

Dubious inclusions

I was surprised to see Francis Scott Key here. I went to his article. Lo and behold, there is a cited claim that "He publicly criticized slavery and gave free legal representation to some slaves seeking freedom." I'll be removing him. However, based on this spot check of sample size=1, I am skeptical of this list in its entirety. It is worthy of close examination. Jbbdude (talk) 17:10, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
