The Derry Junior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Premier Electrics Derry Junior Football Championship) is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by lower-tier Derry clubs.

The competition receives coverage in the national media.{{cite web|url=https://www.ireland-live.ie/news/derry-now/886316/derry-jfc-red-card-frustration-for-pearses.html|title=Derry JFC: Red card frustration for Pearses|work=Ireland Live|date=15 August 2022|accessdate=16 November 2022|first=Garry|last=Ferry}}

Ballymaguigan are the title holders (2023) defeating Moneymore in the Final.

History

It was once (around 2011) The Derry Credit Union Derry Junior Football Championship for sponsorship reasons but no more. It had, by 2015 at the latest, become the Premier Electrics Derry Junior Football Championship.{{cite web|url=https://www.donegalsporthub.com/shay-og-murrin-helps-faughanvale-to-derry-junior-football-championship/|title=Shay Óg Murrin helps Faughanvale to Derry Junior Football Championship|publisher=Donegal Sport Hub|date=17 October 2015|accessdate=16 November 2022|first=Alan|last=Foley}}

2018 champions Limavady faced losing Callum Brown to the Australian Football League (AFL), the professional Australian rules football competition.{{cite web|url=https://www.derrydaily.net/2018/11/17/limavady-wolfhounds-on-the-brink-of-ulster-jfc-success/|title=Limavady Wolfhounds on the brink of Ulster JFC success|work=Derry Daily|date=17 November 2018|accessdate=16 November 2022|first=Shaun|last=Keenan|quote=The Wolfhounds will enter the contest full of confidence, however, a dark cloud may lapse over the camp this evening as they prepare to lose Callum Brown to the AFL. However, for Brown, who has been magnificent for Derry at an under-age level this year, his swan-song for Limavady may push him on to kick-start the Wolfhounds certain challenge.}}

In 2022, Craigbane bridged an eleven-year gap to win.{{cite web|url=https://www.derryjournal.com/sport/gaa/craigbane-bridge-11-year-gap-to-become-derry-junior-football-champions-3873168|title=Craigbane bridge 11 year gap to become Derry junior football champions|work=Derry Journal|date=10 October 2022|accessdate=16 November 2022|first=Michael|last=Wilson}}

Honours

The trophy presented to the winners is the Joe Brolly Cup. The winners of the Derry Junior Football Championship qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship.
