History

The business is owned by mother-daughter duo Terri and Tracy Roundy. Like many businesses, the restaurant closed temporarily upon the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff were laid off and Gramma's operated via take-out service for most of 2020, until indoor dining was allowed. High delivery service fees almost caused the restaurant to close in late 2020.{{Cite news |last=Dowling |first=Jennifer |date=December 12, 2020 |title=Milwaukie restaurant on verge of closing from heavy delivery service fees |url=https://www.koin.com/news/oregon/milwaukie-restaurant-on-verge-of-closing-from-heavy-delivery-fees/ |publisher=KOIN |archive-date=February 18, 2021 |access-date=April 13, 2025 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210218100518/https://www.koin.com/news/oregon/milwaukie-restaurant-on-verge-of-closing-from-heavy-delivery-fees/ |url-status=live }} Tracy Roundy offered public testimony in support of Senate Bill 1801, which set a limit on delivery fees charged to restaurants.{{Cite web |date=2020-12-23 |title=Oregon caps delivery app fees charged to restaurants |url=https://www.kgw.com/article/news/local/oregon-caps-delivery-app-fees-charged-to-restaurants/283-1db4e644-d403-4b82-a7ab-01e32dd7ff9b |access-date=2025-04-13 |website=kgw.com |language=en-US}} Gramma's continued to suffer from a statewide labor shortage into 2021.{{Cite web |title=Oregon’s got jobs, but could use workers to fill critical positions, according to new report |url=https://www.opb.org/article/2024/05/15/oregon-industries-workers-shortage-critical-positions-new-report/ |access-date=2025-04-13 |website=opb |language=en |archive-date=2025-01-20 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20250120165510/https://www.opb.org/article/2024/05/15/oregon-industries-workers-shortage-critical-positions-new-report/ |url-status=live }}
