History
The Chowder And Marching Club is a historical club founded in 1949 by Congressman Glenn R. Davis of Wisconsin.{{cite book |last1=Smith |title=The Iron Man: The Life And Times Of Congressman Glenn R. Davis |location=Opening Letter From President Gerald R. Ford |isbn=0819193194, 9780819193193}}
The club was an informal gathering for Republican Congressmen and officials to discuss legislation throughout the government. Many sources claim that Richard Nixon or Gerald Ford created the club, which is not true. Gerald Ford stated in "The Iron Man: The Life And Times Of Congressman Glenn R. Davis" that Davis founded the club. {{cite book |last1=Eichenlaub |title=The History Of The Chowder And Marching Club}}{{cite book |last1=Smith |title=The Iron Man: The Life And Times Of Congressman Glenn R.
