By June 2022, the filmmaker stated that as he wrapped production on The Man from Toronto, he realized that he wants to have The Hitman's Bodyguard movies take place in the same universe. Hughes stated that he plans to talk to the associated film studios, and is working on a crossover idea where Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L.
