Guanacastepene A is a compound showing antibiotic activity. It is a diterpene that was extracted with hexane from a Costa Rican fungus, CR115, found on the branches of the Daphnopsis americana tree and purified by chromatography.{{cite journal |author1=Brady, Sean F.|author2=Singh, Maya P.|author3=Janso, Jeff E.|author4=Clardy, Jon | title = Guanacastepene, a Fungal-Derived Diterpene Antibiotic with a New Carbon Skeleton | journal = Journal of the American Chemical Society | year = 2000 | volume = 122 | issue = 9 | pages = 2116–2117 | doi = 10.1021/ja993835m}}
