He legally took up his see when his election was confirmed at a Sacred Synod for that purpose on 22 November 2021; he was later consecrated into bishop's orders by Andy John, the new Archbishop of Wales (who had first to be elected by the Electoral College, which included all six bishops, including Lomas).{{cite web|title=Former Navy aircraft engineer appointed Bishop|url=https://www.churchinwales.org.uk/en/news-and-events/former-navy-aircraft-engineer-appointed-bishop//|website=Church in Wales|access-date=7 December 2021|date=4 November 2021}}

Lomas was consecrated a bishop on 26 February 2022, by Andy John, Archbishop of Wales and Bishop of Bangor, at Bangor Cathedral.{{cite web |website=Church in Wales |title=New bishops consecrated |url=https://www.churchinwales.org.uk/en/news-and-events/new-bishops-consecrated/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220228115724/https://www.churchinwales.org.uk/en/news-and-events/new-bishops-consecrated/ |date=28 February 2022 |archive-date=28 February 2022 |access-date=3 March 2022 }}https://cadeirlanbangor.contentfiles.net/media/assets/file/Cysegru_26_Chwe_2022.pdf {{Bare URL PDF|date=August 2024}}
