Mast cell sarcoma is an extremely aggressive{{cite journal |vauthors=Chott A, Guenther P, Huebner A, Selzer E, Parwaresch R, Horny H, Valent P |title=Morphologic and immunophenotypic properties of neoplastic cells in a case of mast cell sarcoma |journal=Am J Surg Pathol |volume=27 |issue=7 |pages=1013–9 |year=2003 |pmid=12826896 |doi=10.1097/00000478-200307000-00019|s2cid=46710032 }} form of sarcoma made up of neoplastic mast cells. A sarcoma is a tumor made of cells from connective tissue. Mast cell sarcoma is an extremely rare tumor. The largest analysis to date comprises 34 cases.{{cite journal |last1=Matsumoto |first1=Nana P. |last2=Yuan |first2=Ji |last3=Wang |first3=Jun |last4=Shen |first4=Qi |last5=Chen |first5=Xueyan |last6=Kim |first6=Young |last7=Zuppan |first7=Craig W. |last8=Chang |first8=Chung-Che |last9=Cui |first9=Wei |last10=Chen |first10=Dong |last11=Shi |first11=Min |last12=Gisriel |first12=Savanah D. |last13=Chen |first13=Mingyi |last14=Xu |first14=Mina L. |last15=Pan |first15=Zenggang |title=Mast cell sarcoma: clinicopathologic and molecular analysis of 10 new cases and review of literature |journal=Modern Pathology |date=July 2022 |volume=35 |issue=7 |pages=865–874 |doi=10.1038/s41379-022-01014-w |pmid=35105959 |doi-access=free }} Prognosis is extremely poor. People with a mast cell sarcoma have no skin lesions, and pathology examination of the tumor shows it to be very malignant with an aggressive growth pattern.Nancy Gould, "[http://www.tmsforacure.org/research/consensus.shtml Diagnosis and Classification of Mastocytosis] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20041027054546/http://www.tmsforacure.org/research/consensus.shtml |date=2004-10-27 }}", The Mastocytosis Society. Mast cell sarcoma should not be confused with
extracutaneous mastocytoma, a rare benign mast cell tumor without destructive growth. In the cases observed, mast cell sarcoma terminated quickly as mast cell leukemia; one of the most aggressive human cancers.{{cite book |doi=10.1007/978-0-387-73744-7 |title=Rare Hematological Malignancies |date=2008 |isbn=978-0-387-73743-0 |editor-last1=Ansell |editor-first1=Stephen M. }}{{pn|date=March 2024}}
