Methylosphaera hansonii, also called Antarctic budding methanotroph AM6,{{cite web|author1=|title=Methylosphaera hansonii|url=https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Taxonomy/Browser/wwwtax.cgi?mode=Info&id=51353|website=NCBI taxonomy|publisher=National Center for Biotechnology Information|access-date=19 December 2017|location=Bethesda, MD|language=English|quote=Other names: synonym: Antarctic budding methanotroph AM6}} is a species of psychrophilic, group I methanotrophs, named after microbiologist Richard S. Hanson.{{cite journal|last1=Bowman|first1=John P.|last2=McCammon|first2=S. A.|last3=Skerrat|first3=J. Its type strain is ACAM 549.

The cells are round and 1.5–2.0 μm in diameter. They are Gram-negative, non-motile, and strictly aerobic. They use methane and methanol as substrates to produce energy, and they can fix atmospheric nitrogen.{{cite book|editor1=David R. Boone|editor2=Richard W.
