History

The station opened on 22 July 1940 in what was then the village of Takahagi.{{cite book |title = 停車場変遷大辞典 国鉄・JR編|trans-title=Station Transition Directory – JNR/JR| publisher = JTB | editor1-last = Ishino| editor1-first = Tetsu| year = 1998 | location = Japan | volume = II| page =446 | isbn = 4-533-02980-9}} On 1 June 1985, the village of Takahagi was merged to become part of the town of Hidaka. This was upgraded to become a city on 1 October 1991. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East.

A new elevated station building was opened on 19 February 2005.{{cite web|url= https://www2.city.hidaka.lg.jp/0502/shisei/eki/index.html|title= JR川越線武蔵高萩駅橋上化及び自由通路新設事業|trans-title= JR Kawagoe Line Musashi-Takahagi Station Rebuilding Project|publisher= Hidaka City|date= 1 April 2006|language= Japanese|archiveurl= https://web.archive.org/web/20120316123833/https://www2.city.hidaka.lg.jp/0502/shisei/eki/index.html|archivedate= 16 March 2012|accessdate= 25 December 2010|url-status= dead}}
