The {{nihongo|Sazanami|さざなみ}} is a limited express train service in Japan operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Seasonal Shinjuku Sazanami services operate "mainly on weekends and holidays when service is heavy"{{Cite web |title=20231215_c01.pdf |url=https://www.jreast.co.jp/press/2023/chiba/20231215_c01.pdf |access-date=2024-12-04 |website=East Japan Railway Company}} between Shinjuku and Tateyama. As of March 2024, trains no longer stop at {{STN|Akihabara|x}} or {{STN|Tsudanuma|x}}.

History

  • 15 July 1972 - Sazanami service starts coinciding with opening of the underground Sōbu Line platforms at Tokyo Station.
  • 16 March 1991 - Sazanami service are rerouted via the Keiyo Line from Tokyo.
  • 2 July 1993 - 255 series EMUs are introduced on View Sazanami services from Tokyo to {{STN|Chikura|x}}.
  • 16 October 2004 - E257-500 series EMUs are introduced.
