Major revision due
This article is misleading and confusing. It appears to be yet another homework project. It should be cut down to a 10% length and refocused on the esoteric hydrocarbon abietane, which is of some interest to a handful of biogeochemists as sort of a fossil molecule. It may have no serious biological role. The biosynthesis of abietic acid is almost irrelevant. The health ref in the lede probably fails WP:MEDRS. --Smokefoot (talk) 15:01, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
