effectiveness/ how it worked to treat bilharzia?
the article tells that the chemical compound is a strong emetic (triggers vomiting), but gives no clue how it could be effective treatment of parasitic tapeworm infection that is not in the stomack but in the urinary tract and in the bowels, and in the bloodstream, in the liver, etc. the reader is left to speculate whether it was an effective albeit dangerous treatment or it was a completely useless (and dangerous) treatment in its time. so please, if it is available, add effectiveness and mechanism of action to the article.
