Amami Ōshima

I have modified the following statement, which was added by {{User|Robertmpoole}}[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chitose_Hajime&diff=427034097&oldid=427033267]:

:Age 10 she began to pick up "Shima-Uta" [island songs], a style of singing passed down through generations and part of the Ryukyuan music tradition{{cite news|url=http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/fm20080710r2.html|title=Island chanteuse Hajime finds tranquillity on Saturn|first=Robert Michael|last=Poole|publisher=The Japan Times|accessdate=2011-05-02|date=2008-07-10}}.

The word "Ryukyu" appeared only once in the article cited and its sole purpose was to explain Amami Ōshima's location to English readers. It's clear from the article that she identified her musical background with Amami Ōshima. After all, there is no such thing as Ryukyuan music. --Nanshu (talk) 23:30, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

"Orient" "Occident"

:In August 2010 she released two albums simultaneously, the Japanese language "Orient" and the English language "Occident".

This is fascinating. Can we have a description of them? --Thnidu (talk) 17:32, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Romanizations of song titles

The titles of traditional songs in the album Shima • Kyora • Umui appear to be romanized incorrectly.

The character 節, if used in folk song titles, is usually read as bushi rather than setsu. Either way, while the character is often used in the titles of the songs included, the album itself omits it in all but one case. (That being 豊年節)

In addition some titles are given other incorrect readings in the article.

Corrected romanizations of the aforementioned songs are:

朝花 - Asabana

長朝花 - Naga Asabana

俊良主 - Shunjoshu

塩道長浜 - Shumichi Nagahama

嘉徳なべ加那 - Kadoku Nabe Kana

長雲 - Nagakumo

糸繰り - Itokuri

行きゅんにゃ加那 - Ikyunnya Kana

くばぬ葉 - Kuba nu Ha Megalograptus (talk) 16:59, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
