Is her grandmother Frida Kahlo's sister or cousin?

According to this interview http://chicago.gopride.com/news/interview.cfm/articleid/263056/:

JN: I read that your great aunt is the painter Frida Kahlo.

DM: Yes, my grandmother is her sister. It is a huge deal to think she is part of my blood and family.

so why do I see other sources stating Kahlo was the cousin of Dulce María's grandmother? Everyone seems to agree she's Kahlo's "great-niece" but that terms refers to granddaughter of one's siblings. Can anyone clear this up? (Torowhynot (talk) 20:45, 30 October 2016 (UTC))
