Geschichte removed the last paragraph of a version of this article in which I had referred to 2 Op Ed articles Steinsland wrote in 2000. I have added back one of these, because the forskning.no source features them (it links also to Heyerdahl's response and to a defence of her position by fellow academics in the field, both in the same newspaper) and highlights her large output in non-academic venues; and the PROSA source also mentions her being frequently interviewed on TV and radio in addition to newspaper articles. So I believe this aspect of her career is not only interesting, but regarded as distinctive. I have however left out the first example, about the royal marriage; only one seems needed, the Heyerdahl one seems to have made a bigger splash, and there's no need to dredge up the debate over the Crown Prince's choice of bride, which in retrospect might embarrass people. I thought I'd present my rationale here for the record and because there might still be disagreement over including that last paragraph, and this is the best place to discuss it. ::Seconded. I was quite unclear on what this was supposed to mean and thought it must be a joke on Sturluson's attempt to mix characters from the Iliad into the Prose Edda. This was clarified in the article for Thor Heyerdahl under the section pertaining to the Azerbaijan expedition but that's not immediately apparent from the wording in this article.

::Also Odin, as used in this context, should link to that section of the Heyerdahl article rather than the Norse god. I'll take the liberty of making that correction (won't fix the main page blurb though). - OldManNeptune ⚓ 02:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

::::That's actually exactly what the Norwegian says. Yes, it's about the Prologue to the Prose Edda - Heyerdahl was trying to "prove" Snorri's euhemerised version of the origins of the Æsir which was patently inserted to keep the Church off his back. I think clicking through to Thor Heyerdahl and looking there for Odin would provide a clear answer to anyone who didn't know the context, but ok :-) Yngvadottir (talk) 05:14, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
