Problems

Re problems with the article: — Preceding unsigned comment added by LexingtonLad (talkcontribs) 05:12, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

As a person once contemporaneous with the city operations of LVT and the Liberty Bell Line, I have long considered this Lehigh Valley Transit article flawed. It needs major rework which I have neither the time nor Wiki competence to undertake. The most useful thing would be to create a new article entitled "Liberty Bell Limited", and describe therein (splitting off from the LVT article, but linking from it) everything pertaining to LVT's Philadelphia Division (to both Chestnut Hill and Norristown destinations). Of particular note for inclusion would be the genesis of the term "Liberty Bell Route", pertaining to the Revolutionary War effort by Pennsylvanians to hide the Liberty Bell in Allentown to prevent its seizure by the British and its metal being melted for war materials.

Wikipeda editors can find persons with useful knowledge (and access to reference resources)in the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and at the Rockhill Trolley Museum. These organizations jointly maintain in Allentown a library of pertinent material that can be useful. I'm sure that the LV Chapter of NRHS would allow wholesale quoting from the publications they have produced over that past 50 years or more. I note in the article some copying (e.g., re "Golden Calf") but I feel it is poorly written. The LV Chapter publication on the 1000-series cars has better wording. Even the picture of an Indiana Railroad interurban (#65) is not the one (#55) that ran on LVT. Perhaps the LV Chapter could take on the article revision as a project.

Nuff said. No time for more.

Origination

About twelve years ago, the Wikipedia subject "Lehigh Valley Transit" was just a heading with an invitation for construction of an article. I wrote the basis for what exists at present derived from what reference material that I could locate at the time, the bulk of which was from the Lehigh Valley chapter publications about the 700 800, 1000, and St Louis series cars.

The article definitely needs work. JWD. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.227.107.81 (talk) 02:13, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
