why named "Mexican War Streets"?

Could someone please post why they are called the "Mexican War Streets"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.232.59.137 (talk) 10:28, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

:Some of the houses in the district date from around 1848, during the time of the Mexican–American War, and some of the streets are named after battles and generals from that war, including Buena Vista Street, Monterey Street, Palo Alto Street, Resaca Place, Sherman Avenue, and Taylor Avenue. Fremont Street, currently Brighton Place, had been named in recognition of John C. Frémont. Leepaxton (talk) 08:11, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
