Acyl halide?
why is this classified as an acyl halide? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.118.38.51 (talk) 18:43, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
:Any compound that can formally be considered a derivative of an acid in which an -OH group is replaced by an -X (halide) group is an acyl halide. This includes more than just the halides of carboxylic acids.
:In the case of nitryl fluoride, it can be formally derived from nitric acid (HO-NO2) by replacing the -OH group with an -F group, forming nitryl fluoride (F-NO2).
