- ... that Ira F. M. Butler was the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the last session of the Oregon Territorial Legislature prior to statehood?
:Source: The [http://records.sos.state.or.us/ORSOSWebDrawer/RecordView/6785254 1857 Oregon Territorial Legislative Guide] show Butler as speaker while the [http://records.sos.state.or.us/ORSOSWebDrawer/RecordView/6785256 1858 legislative guide] show there were no House session that year as the decision on Oregon statehood was pending. Oregon became 33rd state on 14 February 1859.
