The minus sign character is not a standard key on keyboards but other types of dashes and hyphens are, so it is difficult to type the correct symbol for negative numbers. Oftentimes, "-" (hyphen/hyphen-minus) is used but should be replaced with the proper "−" (minus sign) and not "–" (en dash) or "—" (em dash)
