On retiring as a player he held coaching positions at Everton, Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers, and was employed as a European scout for Bolton Wanderers.{{cite news |url=http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport-news/wrexham-fc/2008/10/06/terry-darracott-is-new-wrexham-fc-assistant-55578-21972770/ |title=Terry Darracott is new Wrexham FC assistant |first=Mark |last=Currie |newspaper=Daily Post |location=North Wales |date=6 October 2008 |accessdate=8 December 2009}}{{cite web |url=http://www.evertonfc.com/history/on-this-day.html?day=06&month=12 |title=On this day - 06th December |publisher=Everton F.C |accessdate=8 December 2009}}

In October 2008, Darracott joined Wrexham as assistant to manager Dean Saunders, with whom he had worked at Blackburn. Restricted mobility due to a hip problem forced him to leave Wrexham a year later, and he returned to scouting for Bolton.{{cite news |url=http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport-news/wrexham-fc/2009/10/22/injury-ends-terry-darracott-s-wrexham-fc-coaching-career-55578-24986466/ |title=Injury ends Terry Darracott's Wrexham FC coaching career |first=Gareth |last=Bicknell |newspaper=Daily Post |location=North Wales |date=22 October 2009 |accessdate=8 December 2009}}

He provided opposition analysis as part of Hull City's scouting team.
