Jank Words & Pictures is a Canadian creative studio based in Amherstburg, Ontario, known for producing narrative-driven content across diverse media. Founded by Jamie Lees and Frank D'Angelo, both accomplished creatives with extensive expertise in design, writing, advertising, and multimedia production, the studio specializes in tabletop games, graphic novels, historical exhibitions, and educational storytelling projects. Continually exploring new creative avenues, Jank Words & Pictures remains dedicated to innovative storytelling.
History
Founded in 2017, Jank Words & Pictures was established to bridge research, visual storytelling, and cultural memory through immersive, story-based formats. The studio blends photography, writing, illustration, and game design, aiming to both entertain and inform. Its creative tagline—Entertain, Educate, Inspire Through Storytelling—reflects the company's commitment to original, form-breaking storytelling.
Prior to founding the company, co-founder Jamie Lees led a range of creative development workshops aimed at helping individuals reconnect with their creative voice, often after years of disuse or personal setbacks. One such program, a 12-week course titled Unblocking and Expanding Creative Potential, encouraged participants to explore their personal stories and creative expression. It was featured in the Windsor Star and Greater Windsor News Magazine. She also taught Writing Your Life Story Through Personal Stories through the Continuing Education department at St. Clair College in Windsor. These experiences laid the foundation for Jank's ongoing commitment to educational storytelling, which continued in 2022 with a Jank-led book study based on Julia Cameron's It's Never Too Late to Begin Again.
