Monaco participated in the 1959 Eurovision Song Contest, then called the Grand Prix Eurovision de la chanson européenne 1959, in Cannes, France. This was Monaco's first appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The country was represented by Jacques Pills and the song "Mon ami Pierrot," selected by Télé Monte-Carlo.
The Monegasque broadcaster, Télé Monte-Carlo, internally selected the artist and song to represent Monaco in the 1959 Eurovision Song Contest. During this selection, Jacques Pills and the song "Mon ami Pierrot," written by Raymond Bravard and composed by Florence Véran, were chosen.
