I changed the picture from a roll of film to a camera since nearly all non-pro photography and much pro photography is digital. As it happens, the most iconic camera image I could find is not a digital camera, but compact digital cameras aren't very iconic and digital SLRs tend to be all black. --Tysto 00:22, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

:Hm, I dunno. The film icon served to better distinguish this (amateur) designation from professional photography, which does show an SLR-like camera icon: 40px

:The old icon was from the tango project too, so they had a consistent visual style even though they were distinct. It would be nice if we could find a similarly styled consumer-level digital camera icon. Perhaps one could be made from :Image:Camera-video.svg?

::I decided to try my hand at this. I'm no artist, but perhaps something along these lines would work? Image:Camera-still-consumer.svg

::I've changed the picture to this in order to see how it looks in the context of a userbox. (It's supposed to resemble an old Sony Mavica.) Please don't mind my being bold, feel free to revert it if you don't like it.

:::The new icon is nice-looking but doesn't really look like a camera. And a roll of film does not suggest "amateur" at all. How about something like the Canon Powershot [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007KQUP2/103-4589535-5799022?vi=accessories&n=502394]? Silver, but a more traditional lens and viewer location. --Tysto 04:43, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

::::Yeah, it's supposed to resemble a [http://images.google.com/images?q=mavica Mavica]. I think I found the perfect Icon though (It's used for photography stubs): 40px

::::There, everybody happy? -Fadookie Talk 07:35, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

:::::sorry to intervene, but the picture we have now is not good. I could barely tell it was a camera at first. I'll change it for now, please decide on another. aido2002 06:28, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

::How's this? 43px --Brad Beattie (talk) 19:50, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
