Bush Week

Bush Week is a expression used as to describe a farcical situation. Bush week is often used in the phrase "What is this - bush Week?" in circumstances that appear ridiculous or amateurish.

Bush Week derives is name from an ancient pagan festival celebrated in certain regions of Caledonia, Normandy and Scandanavia. The festival would require each family to offer their first born daughter to the villiage chieftan for the purposes of unimprovised dancing. The chieftan would select the second best dancer to led the villiage in a mass copulation.

In modern times, the phrase took a new meaning when country folk would bring their wares and ways to the city in an annual festival in Australia called the Sydney Royal Easter Show. The Premier of New South Wales would select the second best head of cattle to occupy the position of Head Bull of the Year. In 1931, the owner of the best head of cattle, outraged that the second best head of cattle was picked as the belle of the ball, declared: "What is this - Bush Week?" The term has fallen into common usage in Sydney society.

In 2004, in a conversation with Tom Stoppard, the then NSW Premier Bob Carr, denounced allegations the term 'Bush Week' was a reference to merkin as apocryphal.

Santos in Latin America

{{#switch:{}|accept=afc a|mm=afc mm|#default=afc r}}

: Santos. If you ever wondered why is it that there are so many Josés and Marias within the Hispanic community, you have to look no further than a Catholic calendar. "Birthday or nameday is actually a saint's day celebration by an individual" (Gudeman 715), tradition calls for people to carry their first name after one of the saints those day is being celebrated on their birth date. Since there is more than one person who shares the same birth date, there also is more than one who shares the same saint's name. Saints, to the Latin American countries have been the most accepted and well-known attributes that they have adopted from the Catholic Church since their formal conversion to Christianity.

: The Roman Catholic Church set the standards "that saints were humans who led virtuous lives" (Gudeman 710), due to the great examples that they set forth for others to follow they were able to be canonized and be recognized by the church as such. Also the church explains, "God makes known his will that a person be recognized as a saint through miracles confirming these virtues." (Gudeman 711) This meaning that the humans that are up for sainthood were chosen by God, and that through their ability to perform miracles he makes sure that there is no question about the validity of the person and his or her actions. The saints are celebrated by people from little towns and as well as the big cities in all of the Latin American countries, some of the celebrations are so elaborate and costly that even the Catholic church questions "whether the money offered to a saint should be given over to a local cult group or the official church" (Gudeman 711). At the end of the day what it all comes down to for the Latin American community is that through praise, faith, and devotion "the saints intercede with Christ and, through him, with God" (Gudeman 712). "Saints may heal the sick, make the poor prosperous, bring rain, support a farmer's or community's crops or lead peasants... into rebellions" (Read and Gonzalez 233). The strong belief that the saints have the power and ability to directly talk to Christ and ask for the material help that the individual needs, is more than enough for the people to make offerings and hold ceremonies in the saints name, some which "often take place literally outside the church; sometimes they are countenanced by the clergy" (Gudeman 711).

: In many towns and villages throughout Latin American countries people "might claim its own saint, unknown to Rome" (Read and Gonzalez 233), even though the saint has not been officially canonized by the church they become a part of the local traditions simply by the fact that they "may appear to the faithful in the forms of statues or clouds, and may demand their own churches" (Read and Gonzalez 233), these appearances make the believers express their faith even more and at the same time draws more people to the church. The effort that goes into the up keeping of the traditions and the manifestation of respect for the saints can be sometimes viewed as exaggeratory, such as on Saint Anthony's day, who is the saint of lightning and thunder, "stories are told about men who worked. All were killed by lightning while in the fields" (Gudeman 717).

: The role of the church has pretty much been taken over by the devout believers that are primary the ones that observe the saints days, and organize the parties and ceremonies. Since then, the idea of celebrating and observing the birth of a saint has become more of a cultural tradition (formal and informal) that is passed on from generation to generation among members of the same community. The communities take great pride and responsibility in the up keeping of the traditions and ritual performances done on the saints’ behalf, they follow strict guidelines for the preparation of the traditional ceremonies and make accommodations leading up to that point. Females and males have different roles when it comes to observing the holy day, the males have the greater responsibility being that it is tradition "to remove them from the fields" (Gudeman 721), and so that they cannot do any heavy work or else they will be punished. The females are still expected to do their housework, but not any heavy lifting, and in Saint Peter's day nobody works and everybody drinks.

: The significance that the saints have for the Latin American community, is factual each and every time that there are gatherings by a community in order to celebrate the acknowledgement that some of their own were virtuous enough, and "were living persons who led exemplary lives" (Read and Gonzalez 232). For individuals throughout the Americas this traditions and rituals that have been performed by generations of strong believers, not only left a legacy that has to be continued, but a very strong bond that unite them with fellow Catholics and believers from other countries.

The Fog Game

After a subpar year in 1974 (missing the playoffs), the Sabres finished in a tie for the best record in the NHL in the 1974-75 regular season, and played the Stanley Cup finals in 1975 against the Philadelphia Flyers, a series which included the legendary Fog Game, the third of the series and the first-ever Sabres finals win. (The Fog Game was unique for two reasons: First, due to an unusual May heat in Buffalo that year, portions of the game were played in heavy fog and were invisible to many spectators. Second, during a face-off and through the fog, Sabres center Jim Lorentz spotted a bat flying across the rink, raised his stick, and killed it, thus marking the only time an animal was killed directly by a player during an NHL game.) The Sabres eventually lost the series, four games to two, to the Philadelphia Flyers and their star goaltender, Bernie Parent.

Teen%20Idol%20-%20Good%20old%20Sheldon

This page contains a brief summary for two episodes of the Nickelodeon animated television series My Life as a Teenage Robot which form a sort of short, one-hour-spanning story arc.

If and when this page passes critics, feel free to remove the content of these summary from the guide located at this page.

NOTE: due to events unforseen by the creator of this article, the content has been split into 4 different articles : this one, the article named 'Teen Idol', the one named 'Good old Sheldon' and the one 'External links', all submitted chronologously after one another.

It is the author's hope the people with the appropriate rights could attend to the editing of this page, that it may return to the form it was intended to be submit in.

Also, the content shown under this page weren't the work of the author.

Teen Idol
After clobbering a outer-space ghoul, Jenny crash-lands on a planet of fuzzy critters. These start to idolize her, even going as far as to follow her to Earth and her home town. There, together with fellow-fanatic Sheldon, they make up a whole collection of statues in tribute to her. Unfortunately, unbeknowst to Jenny and Sheldon, one of the statues turns into a solar magnet upon activation (which happens when Jenny sits on it and the critters hum a mantra). Jenny is able to subdue the aliens, but in the process sends Sheldon on a hyper-space ride...

Good old Sheldon
It's the day following the end of Jenny's time as a teen idol... On the road to school, Jenny, Brad and Tuck encounter a strange old man claiming to be Sheldon. At first disbelieving him, Jenny has to reconsider when the oldster starts sitting at Sheldon's desk in class, using his locker... And when he starts to remember adventures he's had with Jenny only he could remember (e.g. the 365 collectible Jenny-dolls he bought at one point...), Jenny finally recognizes him.

As Sheldon recounts, after he got away from the critter's spaceship, he spent the next 75 years working consecutively as in an alien fastfood mart, an alien beauty salon... even making carreer on an alien pirate ship!

To get him back to normal, Jenny first tries to shoot him through a wormhole, but as Mrs. Wakeman notes, that would only age him further. The only solution: a special device Dr. Wakeman uses to maintain her natural beauty. To de-age Sheldon, Jenny has to keep moving in a special suit, until he's back at just the right age. Unfortunately, the alien pirates choose this particular moment to come and reclaim their captain. After Jenny is done beating the juice out of them, there's little left of Sheldon than a wee baby.
So, to make Sheldon return to his 'dashing' 15-year-old-or-so self, Jenny gives him back to the pirates, with whom he's forced to relive his childhood.

Of course, it's no surprise Sheldon has been rather traumatized by these 90-year-old journey through space and time...

But, as we can see at the end of the episode, it's nothing a hug from his crush, and a couple of hits from a dodgeball, can't heal!

Paris Carter

Paris Carter was born in the precambrian era, to an incestuous couple of triceratops. At a young age, Paris always felt different from his dinosaur parents. He blamed his triceratops parents for being quote,"F***in weird and disgusting." He had hair, they had horns. He could walk upright, they walked on all fours. While he hunted he could krump. While they ate-THEY crunched.

He began krumping at the tender age of 600000000. Astonishingly, he amassed an enourmous following of fellow krumpers, he later called "Carter's Krumps."

Paris brought krumping to the HNL ("Hole Notha Level") (he means, "Whole Another Level") by taking Carter's Krumps to the Queen of England's Jubillee. Carter's Krumps krumped their way through the crowd of scowling british teeth, and to their surprise and delight, Charles, the Prince of Wales joined their Krumping gang. Carter called him,"Da Krumpin Man".

Prince Krumpin-Man-Charles-of-Wales recorded the hit song "Do you know the Krumpin Man" where it stayed at number one on the billboard charts for an annoyingly long 12 years. Predictably, it was replaced by his other smash hit, "Who let the Krumps Out?". He was later inducted to the Krumps Hall of Fame for being the most "Galiant Krumper", and making use of his swinging british krumping skills.

Paris is currently enrolled in Eric Hamber institute for the Krumpinally Insane. His posse is extremely selective, consisting of Prince Charles, Corda Bojangles (he invented the krump move, "The Bojangle")---DONT ASK.), and the remaining members of Zed Lepplin (formerly known as Led Zepplin).
