Riva T Philip, popularly known as Rivaji is the President of Indian National Congress - IT Cell, an organization of IT professionals believing in the ideologies and policies of Indian National Congress (INC), world's largest political party.
Rivaji, born on 5th July, 1979 as the first son of Tholoor Philipose Philipose (Raju) and Saramma Philipose (Ammini) in Kozhencherry, a town in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. He is the grandson of famous Freedom Fighter and Congress leader T P Philipose (Unnichayen) and Annamma Philipose. Ribu Philip is Rivaji's brother and Priya Anna Philip is his sister. Kozhencherry is a major town in Pathanamthitta district of Central Travancore region (South Central Kerala) in Kerala state.
When he was 10, Rivaji's father passed away.
Rivaji done his school education in Marthoma English Medium School, Kozhencherry and ST Thomas High School, Kozhencherry. Later he done University Education in ST Thomas College Kozhencherry, and Madurai Kamraj University. He completed B Sc in Computer Sciences and Master of Computer Applications from Madurai Kamraj University with flying colours.
Rivaji is now working as a Senior Software Engineer & System Analyst for a top MNC in Mumbai.
Rivaji is not new to politics and Congress. He is a born Congressman. When he was in sixth standard, he joined KSU (Kerala Students Union), the students union of Congress in Kerala state. He became a staunch member of KSU and enabled his brother Ribu to enter into KSU. Ribu contested in School parliament Election and won with a thumping majority.
However, Rivaji hesitated to contest any election in School.Despite his involvement in politics, Rivaji was top in studies also. He won USS Merit Scholarship, 3rd Rank in Kerala State Private Schools Competitive Examination, and won scores of prizes in state-level Quiz Competitions.
During his University Education, Rivaji actively worked for KSU.
After the education, he retired from active politics but continued as a Congressman. But in 2000, he quit the Congress in protest against the soft attitudes of Congress leadership to Communists and he formed Akhand Bharatiyawadhi Rashtrya Congress (United Indiaist National Congress). Later he merged his party with Congress and became Vice President of the IT cell of Congress. After two year he became the President of the organization.
Rivaji is a great Football admirer. He was the captain of the football team of his college.
