Mr. McClain continued to serve as principal until 1985. Mr. Albert Bashaw, who previously served as principal of Bayonet Point Middle was named principal. In January 1988, Jennifer Colhouer, a popular freshman at the school, was found murdered in her home by her 6 year old brother Jeremy.
=1990's=
Mr. Bashaw contined to serve as principal until 1997, when he was named the district's director of student services. Mr. Max Ramos, former teacher and assistant principal of Land O Lakes was named principal. Additionally, he served as principal at Hudson and Pine View Middle schools. In September 1999, 17 year old Robert Crawford and 16 year old Steven Tuttle, both students at the school were shot and killed near the intersection of U.S. 41 and State Road 54 over a drug deal gone wrong.
