The Royal Family (band)

{{#switch:|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

The Royal Family has gone a long way from being just a thought in founder and C.E.O. J-Dub's head over four years ago, to shutting down venues like B.B. King's in Universal Citywalk. The takeover is just getting started. So make room!!!

TheRoyal Family consists of not just rappers, but entertainers as well. The majority of the artists in the Royal Family all got their start as actors. Royal Family members include: J-Dub a.k.a. The King, Comodity, Eclectic, TopBananas, and Tre. Recording artists signed to Royal Family Records are shattering the rumor that actors that take up music cannot be successful in both fields. Recording Artist signed to Royal Family Records have graced the screen on networks such as NBC, UPN, Nickelodeon, HBO, TV1, & B.E.T. and have shared the screen with established performers such as Keanu Reeves, LL Cool J, Debbie Allen, and more.

The majority of the recording artists in The Royal Family are more than triple threats, with talents ranging from directing, dancing, stand-up comedy, singing, rapping, producing & acting. The Royal Family's main goal is to make enjoyable music and to be a good source of quality entertainment for our listeners.

The Royal Family encourages its young listeners to stay in school and pursue an education and to follow their dreams regardless what they may be. We encourage our young listeners who aspire to have a career in rap that, despite what they see portrayed in the media today, "you do not have to sell drugs to be in the rap game" -- J-Dub.

You can find the Royal Family Records at its website: www.myspace.com/theroyalfam.

Luis Tueros

=Biography=

Luis Esteban Tueros Grimaldo was born in Ica (November the 9th, 1989), a small and welcoming city in the southwest of Peru. He began his scientific project, or scientific research, at age 10, when he created a joystick from simple materials of daily use: he used the bottom part of a plastic bottle, a cylindrical stick, and some wires. This joystick had the property of sending information about the location of the stick respect the bottom of the bottle, thus creating circular movement actions. Additionally, this joystick had a button for extra action.

More ahead, when he was 11, he created a small automatic car that used the above mentioned joystick as a remote control. His family was surprised with this invention created by Luis at so early age, and without having any notion about Electronics or Robotics. For that reason, he was registered in an institute that taught electronics, where he studied the basic concepts (which he already knew by own experience) and learned about the application of sensors.

By then, he had already entered the virtual world of computing, and started to program small programs in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, and later, games a little more complex with a software that helped him a lot in his development.

Luis scored 136 in the Stanford-Binet IQ test (a test that measures general intelligence) when he was 10 years old, and the psychologist that tested him told Mrs. Grimaldo that her son possessed a high level of giftedness. What’s more, when the psychologist knew about Luis’s researches on programming and technology, he told the boy that his daughter was studying in Lima, and that Microsoft recruited students with a high IQ and sponsored them so they could study programming and computing technologies. Following the psychologist’s advice, Luis went to Lima and presented his projects to Microsoft Peru.

Once in Lima, Luis showed the games and programs he had created, to the people in charge of the academic and professional development in Microsoft. They were greatly surprised because they thought that it was not possible to create a strategy game with a basic programming language. It was them who advised Luis to enter the Imagine Cup 2005 (a contest for professionals), organized by Microsoft.

Microsoft gave Luis some books that would help him update his knowledge and programming language, since the contest demanded the application of a language for .NET technologies. With these books, Luis could better his knowledge on Visual Basic; then, he would learn the C# language, and later, the C++ to implement his knowledge about programming languages.

With this new knowledge, Luis updated Inkawar to the version Visual Basic 2005 of the programming language, but because of a mistake for using a beta version, he lost all his game sources. He was awfully worried, but he decided to continue: this time he made the same game but with the C# language, and also de C++. Finally, he decided to rely mainly on the C# due to its complexity but brevity. He couldn’t finish it but despite everything, he sent it to the contest.

The results were a victory at a local level (Peru), and another at a regional level (America). At the world-wide level, where the finalists of the different continents participated, he was between the 20 first, being the winners a group of Master-degree students. The contestants participated in groups of four, but Luis, then a 15-year-old secondary student, participated individually because he entered directly through Microsoft.

With these achievements attained, Luis has decided to study Computer Sciences. In November 2005, Luis received from Microsoft the recognition for his personal initiative of development, in a ceremony at the “Los Delfines Hotel” in Lima.

In December of the same year, he entered the Imagine Cup 2006 in the category of Software Design; previously, with Inkawar, he was in Rendering. This time he formed a group with his brother, Sergio Leonardo, who was 14 years old, and his friend Gustavo Dergan, a student at the University San Luis de Ica; they presented the project of a multiple-function wheelchair. This chair, made for quadriplegic people, would be operated by an oral system, through an electronic device located on an artificial palate for the users, and controlled with their tongue. The software would decipher the information coming from the palate through infra-red waves -Radio waves could be used too- allowing the users of these chairs have a better life condition. Unfortunately, the project didn’t pass to the next stage and couldn’t be completed.

Henry L. Smith

{{#switch:{{{1}}}|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

Henry Losson Smith (1866-1957) was the first graduate from the Georgia School of Technology, now known as the Georgia Institute of Technology, in 1890. Smith said in an interview many years later, that being Georgia Tech's first graduate was "the greatest honor I ever received, and I received it through chance. George Crawford and I got together before graduation and agreed that this decision was too important to make on an alphabetical basis, so out came a coin—it was a 50-cent piece—and I won the toss."

Murtz Jaffer

{{#switch:|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

Murtz Jaffer (born August 13, 1980) is a Canadian celebrity journalist. His website is InsidePulse.com and he is the editor of subsidiary sites, RealityDish.com and PrimeTimePulse.com. Jaffer currently resides in Toronto, Ontario.

=Career=

Jaffer began his career at the age of 17 while still in high school. He e-mailed the online editor of The Sports Network's website repeatedly and eventually was given the opportunity to write for the newly-launched wrestling section of TSN.ca. After writing for the site from 1997-1998, Jaffer wrote for a variety of wrestling websites before deciding to launch his own internet property in 2001.

In 2001, Jaffer launched Survivor-Central, an online resource about the popular reality series just as he began studying at the University of Toronto. Featuring several writers from the show itself, Jaffer's site quickly became one of only a handful of websites dedicated to the show that captured an audience of 52 million for its first series finale. In 2003, Jaffer and his team decided to try their hand at spoiling the show by accurately predicting who would be voted off on the program before it actually aired on national television. The predictions were published on Survivor-Central in a crystal ball format. The remarkable accuracy of the predictions led to Jaffer developing a reputation as the world's foremost Survivor expert. This led to him landing a volunteering writing position in the entertainment department at the Toronto Sun newspaper as contributor to the television critic's Survivor column which eventually led to Jaffer writing entertainment stories by himself while still in college.

After graduating in 2003 from the University of Toronto with an honors degree in political science and English, Jaffer enrolled in the post-grad journalism program at Centennial College to compliment his out-of-school media endeavours. As part of the program, Jaffer completed an internship at Entertainment Tonight Canada in 2006 and was hired briefly as a freelance producer.

Jaffer also briefly blogged for CTV's entertainment site.

In 2007, he appeared in the New York Times for starting an anti-application Facebook group. His interview with actress Samaire Armstrong where he asked her why she posed for the Stuff male magazine, led to the magazine's parent website removing her pictures (after she claimed the pictures were a mistake).

Now considered to be the world's foremost reality television expert, Jaffer is currently working on his own reality program.

=InsidePulse.com=

In 2004, Jaffer was approached to merge Survivor-Central with another entertainment site and in the same year, Jaffer and his partners, Jonathan Widro and Tom Daniels launched InsidePulse.com.

Inside Pulse features 12 subsidiary sites that cover everything from comic books to indie music and has a staff of over 200.

Jaffer now reports spoils on every major primetime television program.

=Z103.5 FM Morning Show=

In 2004, Jaffer was approached by the Z103.5 FM Morning Show to come aboard as an on-air personality to discuss all the latest in entertainment news where Jaffer currently appears.

Reuters Market Light

{{#switch:{{{1}}}|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

On 1st October 2007, Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture, Govt of India, Mr. Sharad Pawar, launched Reuters unique mobile information service for Indian farmers. Reuters Market Light (‘RML’) has been designed to support India’s 250-million-strong agricultural community and following a very successful pilot scheme is now being rolled-out across the country.

-- Reuters Market Light offers Indian farmers up-to-date, local and customised commodity pricing information, news and weather updates

-- Successfully trialled since April 2007, the service already has over 7,500 farmers signed-up and is being actively supported by The Government of India

-- RML helps farmers to enhance their crop yields and improve their productivity over a very wide range of produce including onion, cotton, soybean, pulses, pomegranates and oranges

-- Reuters will be developing Reuters Market Light, from an information service, to a full mobile news, information and price facilitator

Reuters Market Light also welcomed Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture, Govt. of India, Mr Sharad Pawar, at The Nisarga Hall, Pune Market Yard in Maharashtra State, India.

RML, a mobile phone-based service, was started in Maharashtra State in Western India in April 2007 on a free trial basis, and has already signed up over 7,500 farmers. RML helps farmers achieve better yields and secure better prices by allowing them to receive accurate weather forecasts and local price information direct to their mobile phones, in their own language.

Before RML farmers had very limited information on current and local market prices for their crops or timely information that would help them be guided on when to harvest their crop. This hindered market efficiency, reduced yields, increased wastage and could severely impact upon a farmer’s earnings and livelihood. Importantly, as well as helping farmers to get the best price, RML’s accurate and timely information has the potential to reduce crop wastage, which across India runs into billions of dollars each year.

Reuters will also soon be piloting another very exciting offering that extends the current RML information service to one that facilitates transactions by connecting farmers with various buyers and traders through their mobile phones.

Amit Mehra, RML Managing Director said: “The farming community in India is one of the largest in the world, but despite its size it remains a relatively opaque market in which to operate. The rural and often remote nature of the community makes it incredibly difficult for farmers, especially those with small holdings, to get even the most basic information.”

“Reuters Market Light provides crucial, local and customised agricultural information for Indian farmers via mobile phones, including crop prices, weather updates and other agric-related news. The aim is to facilitate greater transparency in the Indian agricultural markets allowing individual farmers to increase their productivity and maximise their revenue.”

Tom Glocer, Reuters Chief Executive added: “I am thrilled to support the progress of Reuters Market Light. This innovative information service for the Indian farmer reflects the best tradition of Reuters - promoting transparency and fairness in market operations around the world.“

“The pilot programme was an unequivocal success and now, rolling out Reuters Market Light across India will signal a very important milestone in its adoption as a standard for the Indian agricultural industry”

Johnny Lynn - Founder of Polistas, the polo lifestyle clothing brand

{{#switch:|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

Johnny Lynn founded Polistas, the polo lifestyle clothing brand, in 2001 to outfit polo teams, clubs and players. Some of the best and most well known players in the world wear Polistas while playing polo and off the feild, or apres polo. The Royal Princes of Wales, Charles, William and Harry have all worn Polistas clothing. Johnny designs all the products and their company strap-line is genuinely, "made for polo player by polo players". Johnny plays polo professionally and travels around the world playing polo and promoting the brand. Polistas currently has stores in London's prestigious Burlington Arcade and Harrods; in Sotogrande, Spain; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and St Tropez, France.

Earlier this year Polo Ralph Lauren accused Polistas of passing off their logo. However this is strongly contested by Polistas who point out that their brand is a genuine polo brand and Polistas have counter claimed that a new Ralph Lauren logo depicting 3 polo players is a direct copy of the Polistas 3 player logo and an attemp by Lauren to copy the authentic nature of the Polistas brand.

Procedural adequacy

{{#switch:|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

Procedural adequacy refers to the extent to which we can demonstrate how we went about our analyses. That is, in producing our analyses and interpretations, we must be able to describe accurately and systematically the processes and procedures we have employed in order to arrive at our conclusions. In this way, others are better able to judge the veracity and plausibility of our particular interpretations. For narrative analyses - just like all social-scientific work - to be taken seriously and accepted as valid (i.e. true), then demonstrating their procedural adequacy is essential.

Elvira Shataeva

Elvira Shataeva was the leader of a Russian women's climbing team that scaled Lenin Peak in 1974. The team reached the summit, where there was a major storm. As the women slowly died from the cold and from fatigue, Elvira communicated with base camp via radio. Those at base camp urged her and other women who were still able to descend, but Elvira refused to leave her teammates. After several days, all of the women, including Elvira, had perished. Elvira's husband, Vladimir Shataev went up the mountain to retrieve their bodies. He put these words on his wife's grave: "To my loved one full of sunshine and life, the fairy-spirit of the peaks, a person with a generous soul. Forgive the way it ended."

Elvira's climb is memorialized in Adrienne Rich's poem, "Phantasia for Elvira Shatayev."

Namgyal Lhamo- Tibetan Opera singer and Performing Artist

{{#switch:|accept=

20px Declined. This article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject matter. Please see tips on how to better format your article.|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc a}}}}

Winner of the Best Female Singer award at the 2007 Tibetan Music awards, Namgyal Lhamo is an exponent of Tibetan traditional singing and Opera. She is based in Utrecht,The Netherlands.

Namgyal Lhamo is Europe's only complete and TIPA trained Tibetan female musician. She plays the Lute/Dranyen and sings at the same time which professionally very few traditional Tibetan artists do on an International platform. Starting at the age of 10, Lhamo trained for fourteen years under the greatest masters of Tibetan Opera and Classical Music at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (www.tibetanarts.org) set up by H. H. the Dalai Lama. She went on to become the star performer of the TIPA. Her interpretations of the Nangma and the Toeshe, Tibetan classical songs from the 17th century, have been universally acclaimed and she has been christened The Nightingale of Tibet.

She has toured the world comprehensively and performed at Freedom concerts in Amsterdam and New York city alongside acts like The Beastie Boys, Alanis Morissette and Bjork.

Namgyal Lhamo performs solo and is accompanied on stage by her voice, the Tibetan lute (Dranyen) and her independent spirit. She resides in Utrecht where whe owns the eclectic restaurant “De Werfkring”.Besides her singing, she has developed a unique style of songwriting that is deeply rooted in her Tibetan tradition, free of political discourse but astoundingly powerful in communicating Tibet’s culture in a modern environment. Her latest albums "Pure" - classical-based Tibetan songs - and "The Enchanted Land" - a collaboration with electronic lounge musician Arnav Srivastava - have been released worldwide in August 2007.

Namgyal Lhamo's upcoming opus "Anthology" is a tribute to His Holiness The Dalai Lama and is scheduled for release this winter on the Silk Road label (www.silkrd.com)

First Federal Bank

{{#switch:{{{1}}}|accept={{afc a}}|mm={{afc mm}}|#default={{afc r}}}}

=Brief=

First Federal Bank is a part of First Defiance Financial Corp., which is based in Defiance, Ohio. First Federal Bank currently operates 26 full service branches. In addition it also has 36 ATM locations throughout the western part of Ohio.

= History =

First Federal Bank was originally known as Northwestern Savings and Loan Company, which began in 1920’s (the roaring 20's).

In 1935 a federal charter was approved which changed the name from Northwestern Savings and Loan Company to First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Defiance.

In 1941, the property of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Defiance reached the $1 million mark.

In 1953, Federal Savings and Loan Association of Defiance, added its first branch office in Bryan. Forty years later, it changed its name from Federal Savings and Loan Association of Defiance, to First Federal Savings and Loan, and it opened six more branches in Ohio. The assets was over $336 million by then.

In 1993, First Federal Savings and Loan , issued its first stock to the public, and reorganized from a mutual savings and loan association to a mutual holding company.

In Sept. 29, 1995, First Federal Savings and Loan, The trading stock on the NASDAQ as FDEF, from converting from mutual holding company ownership to a full stock corporation. This event also marked the formation of First Defiance Financial Corp. as the holding company for First Federal.

In 1998, First Federal obtained trust powers and began offering trust, estate planning, employee benefit plans and investment management services to businesses and individuals.

In 1999, it changed its name for the last time to First Federal Bank. This was because it was a community focus and a desire to provide comprehensive services from a “Customer First” philosophy. The famous quote that formed was “Bank with the people you know and trust”, which indicated a obligation to a private local service. By the end of the year, First Insurance & Investments was added to the growing list of financial services, and a Findlay branch opened.

In 2000, First Federal Bank opened its 13th branch in Fostoria.

In 2002, in Toledo, Ohio a loan production office was opened, and a 14th full service branch opened in Bowling Green, Ohio. In April of 2002, The First Federal’s Leader Mortgage Company was sold in Cleveland. This allowed for further expansion of the community banking franchise.

In 2003, a portion of that capital was utilized to acquire three offices in Ottawa, Findlay and McComb, Ohio in June. In December another office opened in Findlay.

The 19th full-service office opened in Maumee, a suburb of Toledo, in February of 2004.

In 2005, four new banking offices were added in Allen County when First Federal acquired ComBanc, Inc. and The Commercial Bank in January. In April, it acquired The Genoa Savings and Loan Company. This allowed it to add offices in Genoa, Oregon and Perrysburg, Ohio.

In December 2006, the assets of First Federal Bank, exceeded the $1.52 billion mark.

Today, First Federal Bank enjoys formidable market share and a reputation of strength and stability in northwest and west central Ohio. With continued emphasis on local decision-making, community banking, quality staff and a customer-centric service culture, First Federal Bank is well-positioned for the future.

Jonas, Karel (Charles) 1840 - 1896

Editor, author, politician, diplomat, b. Malesow, Bohemia. He was educated at the Polytechnic Institute in Prague. He migrated to the U.S. and to Racine, Wis., in 1863 where he became editor of the Bohemian-language newspaper, Slavic (1863-1868). He was co-editor and publisher of this paper from 1868 to 1895. Jonas was the author of an early Bohemian-English dictionary, and wrote several other works on Bohemia. A Democrat, he was a state assemblyman (1878), and state senator (1883-1886). He was U.S. consul at Prague (1886-1889), served two terms as lieutenant governor of Wisconsin (Jan. 1891-Apr. 1894), but resigned during his last term to accept the post of U.S. consul at St. Petersburg. Due to ill health, he soon left Russia, was appointed to a post at Prague, but was removed at the insistence of a hostile Habsburg Empire Austrian government. He died shortly after being transferred to the consular post at Crefield, Germany.
