Hi. I was working to find better citations for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_V._Graham
For the military history in the first paragraph of the Biography section, I have a copy of General Graham's "DD Form 214, Report of Separation" from the National Personnel Records Center at the National Archives. This document lists all military activities from 1934 to 1969. How shall I cite this document for proper attribution?
thanks

:Hey, Template:Cite book is what I think you're looking for- there'll be a list of parameters there that you can copy and fill out. We'll need details like author, ISBN, publication date etc. Hope that helps. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:46, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi again. That Template:Cite book page says it is "specifically for books". This is not a book -- it is a government document. Requested through this process: http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/public/veterans-and-next-of-kin.html
:OK, sorry, I misunderstood. If you just want to cite that document, you should be able to use template:Cite news or Template:Cite journal. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:22, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I have some AP Wire Photos from 1961 such as this: http://dotplotter.com/graham/GALLERY_After%20Order%20Restored.jpg
I would like to include this for a Wikipedia article. However, I see that AP Wire photos are considered "Unacceptable Uses" according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Non-free_content. It says: "A photo from a press agency (e.g., AP), unless the photo itself is the subject of sourced commentary in the article."
However, has the copyright expired on this photo since it was from 1961? May it be used?
thanks
: Hi Danielgrapham, and thanks for that question. The copyright would not have expired on this photo - it was 49 years ago - copyright on photos lasts for (I think) for 70 years after the death of the photographer/copyright owner. However, I could be wrong in that! Your best bet would be to ask at Media Copyright Questions where experts will be able to help you! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 15:51, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

::Erm, actually the above was not quite right; I copied the wrong part; as published in 1961, this bit would apply;
::"Published in the U.S., with a copyright notice:
::* From 1923 to 1963: only in the public domain if copyright not renewed. This may be hard to determine, and if renewed, the protection runs until 95 years after the initial publication. See the external links below and Circular 22 of the U.S. Copyright Office for information on how to search the registry of the U.S. Copyright Office for copyright registrations and renewals."
::So...it is very unlikely to be acceptable, but see the WP:PD page or ask on WP:MCQ if you want to check further. Chzz ► 16:04, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
