Óscar Luis Celada (born 9 March 1966), sometimes known simply as Óscar, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.
He amassed La Liga totals of 189 matches and 11 goals over nine seasons, mainly with Sporting de Gijón (six years).
Playing career
Born in Luarca, Óscar arrived at Sporting de Gijón also in his native Asturias in 1985, but had to wait three years for his first opportunities with the main squad. His best year came in the 1993–94 season, as he started in all his 26 appearances (21 complete games) while the club retained its La Liga status.
Óscar signed with Real Zaragoza in 1994, helping the Aragonese to that campaign's UEFA Cup Winners' Cup – he did not leave the bench in the final{{cite web|url=http://en.archive.uefa.com/competitions/ecwc/news/kind=4/newsid=3429.html|archive-url=https://archive.today/20120709164906/http://en.archive.uefa.com/competitions/ecwc/news/kind=4/newsid=3429.html|url-status=dead|archive-date=9 July 2012|title=1994/95: Nayim's bolt from the blue sinks Arsenal|publisher=UEFA|date=1 June 1995|access-date=11 March 2015}}– but he was mainly a fringe player during his three-year spell.{{cite news|url=https://elpais.com/diario/2010/07/11/deportes/1278799230_850215.html|title=Cocinero antes que fraile|trans-title=Cook before a priest|newspaper=El País|first=Luis|last=Martín|language=es|date=11 July 2010|access-date=1 June 2018}}
In his final four years, Óscar played two seasons apiece with UD Las Palmas and Universidad de Las Palmas CF, retiring in June 2001 at 35.{{cite news|url=https://www.laprovincia.es/deportes/2010/07/15/llevo-ulpgc-10767615.html|title="Llevo la ULPGC muy dentro de mí"|trans-title="I carry ULPGC close to my heart"|newspaper=La Provincia|first=Quique|last=Del Rosario|language=es|date=15 July 2010|access-date=5 April 2023}}
