Despite its name it was a national pro-establishment newspaper, but since 1990 it was an independent publication increasingly focused on local Varsovian issues.

History and profile

Życie Warszawy was founded in 1944{{cite news|title=The press in Poland|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3669427.stm|accessdate=10 November 2014|work=BBC|date=29 April 2004}} as an initiative of Polish Workers' Party and/or Marian Spychalski.

In 2004 Życie Warszawy had a circulation of 250,000 copies in weekdays and of 460,000 copies in weekends. It was acquired by Presspublica in August 2007 and in December 2011 the newspaper and its website was integrated into Rzeczpospolita as the local press section.
