Ȼ (minuscule: ȼ) is a letter of the Latin alphabet, formed from C with the addition of a stroke through the letter. Its minuscule form represents the sound {{IPAblink|ts}} (ts as in cats) in certain phonetic transcription systems for the indigenous languages of Mexico,{{Cite web |title=Phonetic symbols for consonants {{!}} SIL Mexico |url=https://mexico.sil.org/publications/articulation/phonetic-symbols-consonants |access-date=2022-07-20 |website=mexico.sil.org}} and the Saanich alphabet uses its majuscule form (the alphabet is caseless) for {{IPAblink|ʷ|kʷ}} (qu as in quilt),{{Cite web |title=How to pronounce SENĆOŦEN |url=http://saanich.montler.net/say/index.htm |access-date=2022-07-20 |website=saanich.montler.net}} and in Unifon, a phonemic transcription for American English; where it represents the sound of Ч.
Use on computers
Ȼ was added to Unicode 4.1 in 2005, in the Latin Extended-B block.{{Cite book |url=https://unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0180.pdf |title=The Unicode Standard 14.0 |publisher=Unicode, Inc. |year=2021 |chapter=Latin Extended-B. Range: 0180–024F}} It did previously not exist in character sets, and consequently, few fonts can display it. The cent sign is often substituted for it instead.
