116 John Street is a historic office tower at the southwest corner of John Street and Pearl Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in New York City. It was built in 1931, and is a 35-story brick and terra cotta building consisting of a three-story base, a 19-story shaft, and 12 upper stories that recede in a series of setbacks. The Louis Abramson designed building features Art Deco style design elements at the recessed entrances and in the lobby.{{rp|3–4,7}} Built as a speculative office building for insurance companies, the building interior was rehabilitated starting in 2011.{{cite web |last=Satow |first=Julie |date=April 7, 2011 |title=Another Financial District Building Converts to Residential |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/10/realestate/10posting-financial-district.html |access-date=December 22, 2024 |website=The New York Times}} Some floors had been converted to apartments by 2013.{{cite web |url=https://cris.parks.ny.gov/ |archive-url=http://webarchive.loc.gov/all/20190404141934/https://cris.parks.ny.gov/ |url-status=dead |archive-date=April 4, 2019 |title=Cultural Resource Information System (CRIS) |publisher=New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation |format=Searchable database |accessdate=December 1, 2015 }} Note: This includes {{cite web |url=https://cris.parks.ny.gov/Uploads/ViewDoc.aspx?mode=A&id=294860&q=false |title=National Register of Historic Places Registration Form: 116 John Street |accessdate=December 1, 2015 |author=Lindsay Peterson |format=PDF |date=December 2013 }} See also: {{cite web |url=https://cris.parks.ny.gov/Uploads/ViewDoc.aspx?mode=A&id=294865&q=false |title=Accompanying photos }}{{rp|3–4,7}}
