The 1949–50 season was Manchester City's 48th season of competitive football and 34th season in the top division of English football.{{cite news |title=History |url=http://www.statto.com/football/teams/manchester-city/history |publisher=Statto}} In addition to the First Division, the club competed in the FA Cup.
The season marked the first with the iconic City keeper Bert Trautmann, who signed in October 1949.
