Post-match

Following Slovan's victory, manager Michal Vičan described himself as extremely happy. He pointed out that defensive errors on both sides had led to goals, and commended his team's fighting spirit. He also stated that his players represented Czechoslovakia well and wished the national team success for their 1970 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA Group 2 match away in Hungary four days later.{{cite news| first = Z | last = Paulů |date = 22 May 1969| title = Sn Bratislava 3 FC Barcelona 2| page = 8 | url = https://archiv.ucl.cas.cz/index.php?path=RudePravo/1969/5/22/8.png| work = Rudé právo| location = Prague | language = cs | access-date = 17 August 2024|quote=Těžko se mi hovoří, jsem nesmírně šťasten. Vím, že jsme nepodali takový výkon, jaký se od nás očekával, ale chlapcům nelze upřit velkou bojovnost a snahu po vítězství. Obě mužstva se zejména v obraně dopustila několika chyb, z kterých padly goly. Ale tak už to ve fotbale bývá. Myslím si, že jsme dobře reprezentovali československý fotbal a dokázali jeho stoupající tendenci. Podobný uspěch bych přál i našim reprezentantům v Budapešti.|trans-quote=It's hard for me to speak, I'm extremely happy. I know we didn't perform as expected, but you can't deny the boys' great fighting spirit and desire to win. Both teams made several mistakes, especially in defence, leading to goals. But that's how it is in football. I think we represented Czechoslovak football well and proved its upward trajectory. I wish similar success for our national team in Budapest.}}

Barcelona manager Salvador Artigas congratulated his opponents, describing the Bratislava players as more tactical and combative. He also bemoaned his side's bad luck.{{cite news| first = Z | last = Paulů | date = 22 May 1969| title = Sn Bratislava 3 FC Barcelona 2| page = 8 | url = https://archiv.ucl.cas.cz/index.php?path=RudePravo/1969/5/22/8.png| work = Rudé právo| location = Prague | language = cs | access-date = 17 August 2024|quote=Myslím, že finále mělo dobrou uroveň. Střetla se v něm dvě technická mužstva a podle mého názoru zvítězili štastnější bratislavští fotbalisté. Na naše kopačky se lepila smůla. Mohli jsme zápas vyhrát, ale pohár ziskal taktičtější a bojovnější soupeř. Patři mu za to naše blahopřání.|trans-quote=I think there was a good level in the final. Two technical teams came together and in my opinion, the luckier Bratislava players won. Bad luck stuck to our boots. We could have won the match, but the cup was won by a more tactical and combative opponent. For that they deserve our congratulations.}}
