The 17th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards Night took place on April 26, 1969,{{cite journal|url=https://www.google.com.ph/books/edition/Official_Gazette/ty1RAQAAMAAJ|title=Official Week in Review|journal=Official Gazette|volume=65|issue=18|date=May 5, 1969|page=cdxl|access-date=January 14, 2025|publisher=Bureau of Public Printing|quote=Philippines Free Press, Inc., of Makati, Rizal, a corporation of the Philippines.}} honoring films released in 1968. It was the most attended FAMAS ceremony at the time it was held. President Ferdinand Marcos was a guest speaker at the ceremony, presenting awards and pledging to provide government resources to support the film industry.
