The 1979–80 season was the ninth year and sixth season in existence of P.F. Barcelona. They played in the Campeonato Femenino, Catalan league.

The league was operated by Deporte Laboral, part of {{Ill|Educación y Descanso|es|Educación y Descanso}},{{cite news|url=https://hemeroteca.mundodeportivo.com/preview/1977/04/24/pagina-28/1018885/pdf.html|title=Barcelona sede de losJuegos Nacionales del Deporte Laboral|date=24 April 1977|page=28|newspaper=Mundo Deportivo|last=Duran|first=Nolla|language=es}}{{cite news|url=https://arca.bnc.cat/arcabib_pro/ca/catalogo_imagenes/grupo.do?path=1591260|title=Deporte en la empresa: Premios y trofeos temporada 1978/79 {{!}} Futbol femenino Campeonato provincial final, P.F. The Spanish Football Federation had refused to recognise women's football when requested by P.F. Unusually, FC Barcelona had two women's teams – in 1979 there were only six formalised teams in Catalonia. On the initiative of Josep Lluís Núñez, who had become FC Barcelona president in 1978, the women's teams received a comparably high level of support and were both able to train and play at the club's main facilities.
