Changes for 1980

There were several changes from the previous season, with the addition of the Newcastle Brown "900" Open, the Merseyside International Open and the Bob Hope British Classic; and the loss of the British PGA Matchplay Championship, the Portuguese Open and the Belgian Open.{{cite news |last=Plumridge |first=Christopher |title=Television feat on 1980 tour |newspaper=The Guardian |location=London, United Kingdom |date=19 December 1979 |page=21 |via=Newspapers.com |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/260626245/ |access-date=10 June 2020 |url-access=subscription}}{{cite news |title=Now Euro stars chase record £1.8m in circuit cash bonanza |newspaper=Coventry Evening Telegraph |location=Coventry, United Kingdom |date=20 December 1979 |page=33 |via=British Newspapers Archive |url=https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000769/19791220/407/0033 |access-date=10 June 2020 |url-access=subscription}}
