January 13Frank Shuster dies. He was a member of the duo Wayne and Shuster. His death comes almost 12 years after the death of his comedy partner Johnny Wayne.
February 722nd Genie Awards.
March 25Yvon of the Yukon is broadcast in the UK for the first time on CBBC.
April 14Juno Awards of 2002.
July 22CKVU-DT becomes the second Citytv station. Consequently, the Citytv system brand begins.
September 6CBC Television and Télévision de Radio-Canada celebrate their 50th anniversary on the air.
September 16The Omni Television brand begins.
