2003 Guadeloupean autonomy referendum

A referendum on autonomy was held in Guadeloupe on 7 December 2003.[http://www.sudd.ch/event.php?lang=en&id=gp012003 Guadeloupe (France), 7 December 2003: Inner Autonomy] Direct Democracy {{in lang|de}} Voters were asked whether they wanted the island to become a territorial collectivity,[http://statoids.com/ugp.html Arrondissements of Guadeloupe] Statoids which would have given the regional government more autonomy.[http://www.internationalist.org/guadeloupeonstrike1010.html Guadeloupe on Strike!] The Internationalist, October 2010 The proposal was rejected by 73% of voters.
In simultaneous referendums, Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy both voted to become overseas collectivities, gaining autonomy from Guadeloupe.
