{{UCI team code|OPQ|2012}}'s Tom Boonen won the race for a record-equalling fourth time,{{cite news|url=http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/532403/boonen-wins-2012-paris-roubaix-with-unstoppable-solo-attack.html|title=Boonen wins 2012 Paris-Roubaix with unstoppable solo attack|work=Cycling Weekly|publisher=IPC Media|location=London|date=8 April 2012|access-date=8 April 2012|first=Nigel|last=Wynn}} after riding alone for {{convert|53|km|1|abbr=on}}. With {{convert|56|km|1|abbr=on}} to go Boonen had made a breakaway with teammate Niki Terpstra, but the latter quickly proved unable to follow the Belgian. Boonen continued solo to win in Roubaix by over a minute and a half. The second place was settled in a sprint finish with {{UCI team code|EUC|2012}}'s Sébastien Turgot just edging out Alessandro Ballan of {{UCI team code|BMC|2012}}.{{cite web|title=Indrukwekkende Boonen wint solo zijn 4e Roubaix|url=http://www.sporza.be/permalink/1.1267756|publisher=Sporza|access-date=8 April 2012|date=8 April 2012|language=nl|trans-title=Impressive Boonen wins solo his 4th Roubaix}}{{cite news|url=http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/paris-roubaix-2012/results|title=Boonen triumphs at Paris-Roubaix|work=Cyclingnews.com|publisher=Future plc|location=Bath, UK|date=8 April 2012|access-date=8 April 2013|first=Brecht|last=Decaluwé}}
