The 2015–16 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967.{{cite book|last=National Hockey League|title=The National Hockey League Official Guide & Record Book/2014|year=2013|publisher=Diamond Sports Data, Inc.|page=[https://archive.org/details/nationalhockeyle0000unse/page/101 101]|isbn=978-1-894801-26-3|url=https://archive.org/details/nationalhockeyle0000unse/page/101}} The Flyers opened the regular season on October 8, 2015 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This was the first season under new head coach Dave Hakstol. The Flyers finished fifth in the Metropolitan Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference, qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the second Wild Card team in the Eastern Conference, where they would lose in the first round in six games to the Washington Capitals.
Off-season
After the Flyers failed to qualify for the playoffs for the second time in three seasons in 2014–15, head coach Craig Berube was fired.{{cite web |url=http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=763801 |title=Craig Berube relieved of duties as Flyers head coach |publisher=Philadelphia Flyers |date=April 17, 2015 |accessdate=April 26, 2015}} On May 18, 2015, the Flyers hired Dave Hakstol to replace Berube.
