2016–17 United States network television schedule

{{Short description|Television schedule for the fall of 2016}}

{{Use mdy dates|date=March 2025}}

{{USTV|2016}}

The 2016–17 network television schedule for the five major English-language commercial broadcast networks in the United States covers prime time hours from September 2016 to August 2017. The schedule is followed by a list per network of returning series, new series, and series canceled after the 2015–16 season.

NBC was the first to announce its fall schedule, on May 15, 2016,{{cite web|url=http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2016/05/15/nbc-augments-its-stable-schedule-with-ambitious-new-dramas-high-concept-comedies-and-unpredictable-unscripted-series-191305/20160515nbc01/|title=NBC Augments its Stable Schedule with Ambitious New Dramas, High Concept Comedies and Unpredictable Unscripted Series |website=The Futon Critic |date=May 15, 2016|access-date=May 15, 2016}} followed by Fox on May 16,{{cite web|url=https://deadline.com/2016/05/fox-fall-schedule-2016-upfronts-new-shows-24-legacy-the-exorcist-lethal-weapon-prison-break-1201756940/ |title=Fox 2016-17 Schedule: 'Lethal Weapon' Joins 'Empire', 'The Exorcist' On Friday, 'Prison Break' Gets Midseason Launch |last=Andreeva |first=Nellie |website=Deadline Hollywood |date=May 16, 2016|access-date=May 16, 2016}} ABC on May 17,{{cite web |url=https://deadline.com/2016/05/abc-fall-schedule-2016-upfronts-new-shows-speechless-designated-survivor-scandal-the-middle-1201757824/|title=ABC Fall 2016 Schedule: ABC Expands Tuesday Comedy Block with 'The Middle', Holds 'Scandal' For Midseason|last=Andrews|first=Nellie |website=Deadline Hollywood |date=May 17, 2016|access-date=May 17, 2016}} CBS on May 18{{cite web|url=http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2016/05/18/cbs-announces-its-2016-2017-primetime-lineup-868103/20160518cbs01/|title=CBS Announces Its 2016-2017 Primetime Lineup |website=The Futon Critic |date=May 18, 2016|access-date=May 18, 2016}} and The CW on May 19, 2016.{{cite web|url=http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2016/05/19/the-cw-fall-tv-2016-schedule-supergirl-stays-on-monday-supernatural-and-crazy-ex-girlfriend-move/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160520134252/http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2016/05/19/the-cw-fall-tv-2016-schedule-supergirl-stays-on-monday-supernatural-and-crazy-ex-girlfriend-move/ |url-status=dead |archive-date=May 20, 2016 |title=The CW fall TV 2016 schedule: 'Supergirl' stays on Monday, 'Supernatural' and 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' move |website=TV by the Numbers |last=Porter |first=Rick |date=May 19, 2016 |access-date=May 19, 2016}}

PBS is not included; member television stations have local flexibility over most of their schedules and broadcast times for network shows may vary. Ion Television and MyNetworkTV are also not included since the majority of both networks' schedules comprise syndicated reruns (with limited original programming on the latter). The CW is not included on weekends since it does not carry network programming on those days.

New series are highlighted in bold.

All times are U.S. Eastern and Pacific time (except for some live sports or events). Subtract one hour for Central and Mountain times.

Each of the 30 highest-rated shows is listed with its rank and rating as determined by Nielsen Media Research.Highest-rated series is based on the annual top-rated programs list compiled by Nielsen Media Research and reported on [http://www.timbrooks.net/ratings/ TimBrooks.net/Ratings]
