Controversies

= Literature =

Dylan's award for the Literature Prize was questioned; some stated that it was done out of Dylan's popularity rather than any virtuosic quality about his work, while others found that giving the award to a songwriter-musician diminished its reputation.{{cite web |date=13 October 2016 |title=Don't think twice, it's all right: Bob Dylan wins Nobel Lit |url=https://www.yahoo.com/news/bob-dylan-wins-2016-nobel-prize-literature-110421880.html |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161013223638/https://www.yahoo.com/news/bob-dylan-wins-2016-nobel-prize-literature-110421880.html |archive-date=13 October 2016 |access-date=13 October 2016 |publisher=Yahoo! News |agency=Associated Press}} Karl Ove Knausgård told The Guardian: "I'm very divided. I love that the Nobel committee opens up for other kinds of literature—lyrics and so on. I think that's brilliant. But knowing that Dylan is the same generation as Thomas Pynchon, Philip Roth, Cormac McCarthy, makes it very difficult for me to accept it."{{cite web |date=17 October 2016 |title=Karl Ove Knausgaard webchat – your questions answered on self-loathing, love and Jürgen Klopp |url=https://www.theguardian.com/books/live/2016/oct/13/karl-ove-knausgaard-webchat-some-rain-must-fall-my-struggle |work=The Guardian}}
